The TW Steel Coronel SVS304 is a striking red watch from the TW Steel Swiss Volante collection. Striking, because it is certainly not a watch that goes unnoticed and it is very red! This watch was specially designed for Tom Coronel on the occasion of his participation in the TCR, the world touring car championships. In this blog we will take a close look at the SVS304 for you.
Looking at the product photos you might not notice it, but the case of the SVS304 has an anthracite to dark gray color. Where many TW Steel watches have a shiny case, the watch case of this Coronel watch is mat. The lunette however is not mat at all: it is as brilliant as the morning star on a summer morning. It's color is best described as deep black wit a really nice contrast considered with the bright red elements that you'll find on the dial and watch strap of the SVS304.
A striking feature of this watch is the watch lid, the back of the TW Steel SVS304. The Honda Tricorp Honda TCR racing car from Tom Coronel adorns this. Of course you will also find a unique serial number here because this watch is a Limited Edition. There are therefore only 150 made.
The SVS304 is ecquiped with a Swiss Ronda Cal. 5030.D movement. Most quartz watches might have a small deviation, the deviation of this Ronda timepiece is minimal: no more than -10 / + 20 seconds per month. Energy source of the Ronda is a type 395 (diameter 9.5 mm x 2.6 mm / SR 927 SW) button cell battery. Excellent performance.
The SVS304 is also a chronograph that you can use for measuring whatever you want. This watch has of course a date display and you will find a tachymeter around the dial. With a case diameter of 48 mm, the size is pretty reasonable. The thickness of the case is also considerable: we measure 13 mm. Pretty sturdy!
Sapphire glass should not be missing with a watch in this price range. Sapphire is a lot harder than ordinary mineral glass, it protects better against scratches and damage. As far as we are concerned, a watch with sapphire glass is always preferred. And the SVS304 does have sapphire glass.
Beautiful, this watch, but if the first raindrop is already upsetting it then it doesn't help you much. Luckely this won't happen when wearing the SVS304: it is water proof up to 100 meters. Basically this means you can go for a swim with this watch and you can even take it out there on your holiday snorkeling adventures!
The crown is screwed unto the case and in this way better protected against water. The SVS304 is however not suitable for professional divers. A diving watch will be a better option for these kind of actions.
TCR means 'Touring Car Championship'. A touring car championship in which Dutch touring car rally driver Tom Coronel participated. It has been transferred to the WTCR since 2018 (Tom also participates, and that also resulted in beautiful watches).
