1. Consider the brand: WatchXL offers a wide range of beautiful brands, including renowned names such as Citizen, Bulova, Versace, Gc men's and women's watches and Philipp Plein. Each brand has its own unique look and style. Of course, your available budget also helps determine which brand to choose,. After all, a Rolex or Breitling is of a completely different price range than a Seiko or Pulsar!
2. Choose a watch that suits your preferred colour, shape and size. Whether you prefer an automatic watch with a transparent dial or a black, silver or gold model, we have a suitable men's watch for every taste. Browse our categories here and find the watch you like.
3. Determine the functions you are looking for in a men's watch. At WatchXL, you will find watches with functions such as chronographs, tachometers, date screens, altimeters, depth gauges and extensive calendars. If you are looking for a watch that has even more functions, you might want to consider a smartwatch.
4. Consider the type of glass used in the watch. Opt for models with sapphire glass to make sure it won't get scratched. Mineral glass or sapphire-coated mineral glass is also scratch-resistant. Sapphire glass is the very best.
5. Select the right case diameter. Although the most common case diameters for men's watches are between 40 and 45 mm, we also have much larger watches. Up to 57 mm, for example (Diesel). Wrist thickness does not affect the choice of case diameter much but a large watch stands out more, may also be awkward to wear when you are doing chores or sitting at your desk.
6. Assess the desired level of water resistance based on your activities. We offer watches with water resistance ranging from 30 metres for cycling in the rain to 10ATM (100 metres) for swimming and 20ATM (200 metres) for diving. You can even find diving watches that are waterproof up to 300 metres in our shop. If you never take your watch into the water, water resistance is not that important. It all depends on what you plan to do with your watch on your wrist. Tip: Take a look at our diving watches.
7. Choose a strap that offers comfort and suits your preferences. What do you like and what is best for you? That depends on where and when you are going to wear your watch. Options include silicone straps, stainless steel bracelets, titanium and leather straps. Going into the water with your watch? Then don't opt for leather. Do you find a steel bracelet too heavy on your wrist? Then choose titanium, silicone or leather.
8. Decide between watches with or without batteries. Quartz watches need batteries, while automatic watches are powered by wrist movement. Eco-Drive watches have a solar cell, making battery replacement unnecessary. Replacing a battery is often not that complicated and can be done fairly quickly and cheaply by a jeweller. But do you wear a watch that has to be worn while swimming, snorkelling or diving? If so, always have a waterproofness test done after replacing the battery.
We hope these tips will help you find the ideal wristwatch for you. WatchXL specialises in the better watches for men, check out our men's watches here.
